Week 14 Overview - Food

We would love to see how the children are getting on.  Please send a picture of something your child is proud of.  If you would like to send any photographs of your child's wonderful creations and chosen tasks please email them to carol.knowles@wesdenton.newcastle.sch.uk.

Reception children each have a named gift bag and Summer booklet to collect from outside of the school entrance.  Please return all reading books too.

Wow!  Look at Jacob's brilliant rocket ship.  Matthew continues to be a great big brother helping to look after his new baby sister.  He has made some different sized rockets from playdough and has played reading games on Phonics Play.  Ibrahim has completed super writing challenges this week.  His party menu, alien description and captions were fantastic.  Ibrahim also counted on using a numberline in a tricky Maths task.  Great Space work this week Jacob, Matthew and Ibrahim! smiley

Ibrahim has had another busy week working hard at home.  He got top marks playing Buried Treasure and NumBots online.  Made an amazing shape robot and a wrote a super sentence about a bus.  Ibrahim has also been jumping back on a numberline to work out take aways.  What a reception super star! smiley

Congratulations to Matthew and his family who welcomed a new family member this week.  He is now a big sister to the gorgeous baby Jessica Rose.  We can't wait to meet her!  Matthew read with his Dad, played hopscotch maths and completed talk for writing 'Mavis the Magical Cat' tasks.  Ibrahim has worked super hard this week and has completed so many 'Around the World' challenges with his Mummy.  Outstanding amount of work Ibrahim!  I really liked your fruit descriptions and your huge alphabet fruit and vegetable list.  We would love to see which tasks Reception have completed at home.  Please remember to send some photos.

Leela welcomed a new family member.  She is now a big sister to the gorgeous baby Lexie heart Ibrahim has the highest NumBots score this week.  Well done!  Look at his super Gruffalo drawing which even included  his knobbly knee.  Ibrahim has watched a daily speed sound lesson with Rosie.  Have you tried watching a Read Write Inc. lesson at home?  We would love to see which tasks Reception have completed at home.  Please remember to send some photos.

Eva achieved a bronze certificate in Mathletics and created a face from junk modelling.  Ibrahim has had a busy week completing lots of the rainforest learning project.  Look at his amazing 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' drawing and writing.  Matthew enjoyed a floating and sinking experiment and worked through 'Mavis the Magical Cat' talk for writing tasks.  Aaminah used a numberline to work out maths problems and completed many set 2 speed sound challenges.  Well done super stars ⭐️ 😊 We would love to see which tasks Reception have completed at home.  Please remember to send some photos.

Summer Half Term Challenges

Ibrahim wrote about different types of sport.  Fantastic neat handwriting and detailed drawings Ibrahim!  Aaminah has been enjoying the sunny weather riding her bike.  She quickly completed a counting in tens maths challenge and set 2 'ay' phonics.  Aaminah celebrated Eid with her family.  What a beautiful outfit ❤️!  Izzy made a story map of "Hansel and Gretel".  Look at the super witch drawing.

Week 6 Overview - Under the Sea

Wow what a creation!  Thomas made a wonderful 'Under the Sea' model.  Izzy has drawn and labelled a rabbit burrow for Benjamin Bunny.  She made her own number cards and put them in the correct order.  Great sequencing work Izzy.  Emily has been a maths whiz!  She can count up to 100 and has been completed many addition number sentences.  Reception have been enjoying the recent lovely weather by keeping active and learning outdoors.  Matthew has been taking photos of signs of Spring.  He played 'Buried Treasure' on Phonics Play, look at the high score!  I have enjoyed reading the interesting facts he researched about an oarfish.  Aaminah has made an amazing story map for "Little Red Riding Hood".  She remembered to use her 'Fred fingers' when spelling and adding labels.  The Ramadan bunting looks brilliant!  Aaminah has been playing board games with her family.  They are a fun way to practise maths skills.  Jacob enjoyed being creative this week colouring, painting and making a super 'Under the Sea' junk model.  Well done Reception super stars ⭐️ 😊 We would love to see which tasks Reception have completed at home.  Please remember to send some photos.

BBC Bitesize

The BBC Bitesize website is full of great videos, activities, online games and other resources. Although it isn't all aimed at Reception age children, we've rounded up some of the resources that we've found that might be useful for home learning. The PDF is completely linked to the resources, so just choose a topic, click and then off you go.  Have fun exploring!

VE Day Celebrations

Take part in the 75th anniversary celebrations for VE day on 8th May with this fantastice VE day resource pack.  There is everything you need in this pack, such as Union Jack bunting, colouring pages, writing borders, wartime recipe booklet, medal designing and fun glider crafts, to inspire children to explore the history behind VE day.

 

 

Week 4 Overview - Animals

Week 2 of the new government backed online lessons are available to view.  Select the Reception tab to view a daily Maths, English and Foundation lesson.  The Maths lessons this week are based on grouping and sharing, in English the traditional tale "Goldilocks" and "People Who Help Us" in foundation subjects.

Reception have done so many brilliant things this week.  Izzy has enjoyed playing phonics games on the app Reading Eggs and has been watching a daily Read Write Inc. lesson.  Amazing work Izzy!  Matthew made some super Easter crafts and enjoyed fun hands on maths learning.  Ibrahim made some delicious chocolate Easter nests with his family.    

 

 

Week 3 Overview - Viewpoints

 

New government backed online lessons are available to view.  Select the Reception tab to view a daily Maths, English and Foundation lesson.  The Maths lessons this week are based on developing core number skills within 10, in English the traditional tale "The Three Little Pigs" and "All About Me" in foundation subjects.

Easter Home Learning Challenges

The Easter holiday is a great time for enjoying family time and having a break from school work.  If you're worried about the kids being bored over the Easter break don't panic.  There are fun activity ideas above you can do together.

Look at what Reception have been up to this week.  Aaminah has been drawing her favourite fruits.   They look good enough to eat!  Ibrahim has been working hard playing Mathletics and completing set 2 speed sound challenges.  Matthew has completed some super pattern and missing number work.  Fantastic maths problem solving!

 

 

Daily Maths Lesson

White Rose Maths will produce 5 lessons each week.  Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity.

Watch a daily Read Write Inc. Phonics lesson

Read Write Inc. are streaming a daily speed sounds film which will be available for 24 hours via FB and on YouTube.  Parents can sign up to either their Facebook page  or their YouTube channel.  Set 1 and 2 speed sounds are taught in Reception.
