Autumn Term A

Autumn Term A Curriculum Letter -Please read to find out about our topics and for for P.E. and Bushcraft information.

Week 7

This week we have written a character profile on Kate Barlow, who is one of our key characters in our reading book ‘Holes’. In science we have been looking at inherited characteristics and how living things adapt to suit their environment. We finished the week with some spooky Halloween maths. Have a great half term Year 6.

Week 6

We’ve conquered long division in maths this week, made tasty pizza’s in Bushcraft, and made fossils in science.  Great effort Year 6!

Week 5

What a busy week we’ve had this week! We’ve had an online coding session with RGS where we made a Pac-Man game in Scratch. We’ve had Northumbria University in for two sessions, the first one was an escape game using our knowledge of English to crack the code. The second session was a maths based game. We’ve also packed in street dancing and history among many other lessons. See our gallery below to see just how busy we’ve been.

Week 4

We started the week with some great moves in street dance! In English we continued our class book called Holes, where the children produced a comic strip and a character description. We’ve continued our Viking topic where they designed their own helmets and researched King Alfred the Great. We’ve also done some den building in Bushcraft. You can see some of our dens in the gallery below.

Week 3

It’s been another busy week and we’ve been impressed with the effort the children have been putting in. Well done Year 6.  In English, we have been continuing our story called Holes by Louis Sacher which the children are really enjoying.  We’ve had some great writing from them including a diary entry, a persuasive letter and an advert.  You can see some of our adverts in the picture gallery below.

In maths, we have been doing rounding and although some of the children have found this tricky at times, their resilience has been something to be proud of.  Enjoy a well deserved weekend break.

Week 2

It’s been a busy week in Year 6. We have done some street dancing and worked our socks off in the gardens during Bushcraft, all while reading our new book in English called Holes. We’ve also continued our topic on the Vikings.

Week 1

Hello and welcome back! It’s been so nice seeing everyone’s familiar and smiling faces. We’ve had a great start to the year with everyone having a great attitude and working hard. We’ve started the introduction to our Vikings topic and the children wrote some fantastic recipes for a perfect school year.

Huge congratulations to James for being selected to be Head Boy and also to Isa for being our Deputy Head Boy. Well done boys!

We will be doing P.E. on Mondays and Fridays so the children will need to come in in their PE kits, starting with street dance this Monday. We also have Bushcraft this Wednesday so the children need to come in in their bushcraft clothes.
