At West Denton Primary School, we are committed to delivering a robust and progressive online safety curriculum. We recognise that there is no single approach to high-quality computing education; therefore, our carefully sequenced curriculum ensures both breadth and depth, combining discrete teaching with responsive learning that reflects the ever-changing digital world. We respond promptly to any online safety concerns, addressing them in an age-appropriate and supportive way.
Digital technology continues to transform the world, and we understand that developing strong digital literacy is essential for navigating it safely and responsibly. While many children grow up surrounded by technology, we recognise the importance of explicitly teaching them how to use it competently and understand potential risks.
We deliver a structured digital literacy curriculum through 2BeSafe and support this with resources from the National Online Safety Hub for pupils, staff, governors and parents. Staff training is a priority, ensuring all adults are confident, informed and consistent in their approach to teaching online safety. Regular assemblies, staff meetings and updates help keep our community informed about current online issues and best practice.
