The Department for Education (DfE) requires all state‑funded schools to provide a minimum school week of 32.5 hours for children in Years 1 to 6. At West Denton Primary our school week meets this requirement. We welcome this change and use the additional time at the start of the day to support children’s wellbeing and strengthen key skills.
Start time (all children): 8.45am
Finish time (Years R to 6): 3.15pm
Nursery hours: 9.00am to 3.00pm
KS1 and KS2 children have a morning break from 10.45am to 11.00am.
Nursery and Reception: 11.30am to 12.00pm
KS1 and KS2: 12.00pm to 1.00pm
A consistent routine helps children feel settled and ready to learn. Arriving on time ensures they do not miss the start of lessons and supports strong progress throughout the day. Being punctual also helps children feel confident and ready to take part in learning from the very start of the morning.
