🏠🏫 Home School Agreement

At West Denton Primary School we believe children thrive when school and home work together. This agreement sets out the shared commitments that help every child feel safe, supported and ready to learn. It reflects our values of respect, perseverance and achievement, and guides how we work in partnership every day.

🏫  The School Agrees To:

• Provide a safe, caring and inclusive environment where children feel welcome and valued

• Offer high‑quality teaching that supports children to make strong progress

• Teach a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that builds knowledge, confidence and curiosity

• Set clear expectations for behaviour and use calm, consistent approaches that help children practise respect and perseverance

• Encourage positive attitudes to learning, effort and resilience

• Provide regular feedback so children understand their next steps

• Celebrate achievements through praise, certificates and weekly awards including recognition for respect, perseverance and achievement

• Support attendance and punctuality and work with families when difficulties arise

• Communicate clearly with families through newsletters, messages, meetings and updates

• Respond quickly to concerns including safeguarding, behaviour and wellbeing

• Promote equality and respect so every child feels included and valued

• Model and promote our core values of respect, perseverance and achievement in everything we do

👨‍👧 Parents and Carers Agree To:

• Ensure their child attends regularly and arrives on time every day

• Support positive behaviour and reinforce the school’s values at home by encouraging respect, perseverance and achievement

• Encourage kindness and respect in friendships, play and communication

• Communicate respectfully with staff and share any concerns that may affect their child’s learning or wellbeing so we can support perseverance and progress

• Support learning at home by reading regularly, practising key skills and celebrating effort as well as achievement

• Ensure children are ready for school with appropriate clothing, equipment and a positive mindset

• Attend meetings and discussions about their child’s progress, behaviour and wellbeing

• Work with the school to help their child feel safe, confident and ready to learn

• Support school policies including behaviour, attendance and safeguarding

• Praise perseverance at home, not just outcomes, to help children develop resilience

👧🧒 Children Agree To:

• Follow the school rules and make safe, calm choices

• Show respect to themselves, others and the school environment by being kind, listening well and looking after our school

• Try their best in lessons, playtimes and new challenges even when learning feels tricky

• Listen carefully and follow instructions the first time

• Take care of their belongings and be ready to learn each day

• Be kind and helpful to others in class and around school

• Talk to an adult if they are worried, upset or unsure so they can help me persevere and feel safe

• Represent the school positively in their behaviour, attitude and kindness to achieve their goals

By agreeing to these commitments we create a calm, kind and consistent culture where children feel secure and confident.  Together we help children show respect, keep going when things are difficult and feel proud of what they achieve.
