Art and Design

At West Denton Primary School, we believe that art plays a vital role in nurturing creativity, confidence and self-expression. Our art curriculum is designed to inspire and engage children, providing opportunities for them to explore ideas, communicate their thoughts and develop their own unique artistic voice. Through a carefully planned progression of knowledge and skills, children learn to think, work and create as artists, experimenting with a range of media, techniques and styles. We are ambitious for all our pupils and aim to develop their appreciation of art and design while fostering imagination, resilience and pride in their achievements. By encouraging children to reflect on and celebrate the creative process, we enable them to become confident, expressive and successful learners.
