Our Early Years Vision

Children learn best when they feel safe, valued and inspired. Our EYFS team creates an environment where children explore, investigate and develop independence through purposeful play and meaningful adult interactions. We focus on building strong foundations for learning, supporting communication, language and social development, and encouraging curiosity, creativity and resilience. Every child is recognised as a unique individual with their own strengths and interests.

EYFS Curriculum

Our curriculum follows the seven areas of learning set out in the statutory framework. Children learn through a balance of child initiated play, adult led experiences and high quality continuous provision indoors and outdoors.

Our Learning Environment

We offer a rich well resourced environment that supports all areas of learning. Children have daily access to:

• Outdoor exploration areas
• Creative and construction spaces
• Reading corners
• Role play and imaginative play areas
• Sensory and investigation stations

Our outdoor provision is an extension of the classroom and is used to promote physical development, problem solving and teamwork.

Assessment in EYFS

We use ongoing observation and assessment to understand each child’s progress and plan next steps. This includes a baseline assessment on entry, regular observations, termly progress reviews and the EYFS Profile at the end of Reception. We work closely with parents and carers to share progress and celebrate achievements.

Working in Partnership with Families

Parents and carers are children’s first educators. We build strong relationships through stay and play sessions, curriculum workshops, regular communication, home learning opportunities and open door conversations with staff. Your involvement is central to your child’s success.

Safeguarding and Welfare

Children’s safety and wellbeing are our highest priority. Our EYFS provision follows all statutory safeguarding and welfare requirements including qualified staff, paediatric first aid, robust safeguarding procedures, safe and secure environments, healthy snacks and lunchtime routines, and support for medical and dietary needs.

Transition into School

We ensure a smooth, positive transition into school through nursery and preschool visits, stay and play sessions, parent welcome meetings, gradual settling routines and close communication with families. Our aim is for every child to feel confident, secure and excited about starting school.
